Guidelines & Preparatory Instructions for Kriya Yoga / Shambhavi (Shaktipat) Diksha

 

Receiving Diksha (Initiation) is a sacred milestone in the spiritual journey. These guidelines have been prepared to help every aspirant approach Kriya Yoga with sincerity, discipline, devotion and inner preparedness.

 

Eligibility & Preparatory Guidelines

 

  1. Faith in the Guru and Guru-Paramparā
    Approach the initiation with complete faith in the Guru, the Guru-Paramparā and the eternal teachings of Kriya Yoga. Maintain an intense aspiration to experience the state of Yoga described in the Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā.
  2. Blessings from Family
    Applicants are encouraged to obtain the blessings of parents or elders. Married aspirants should receive Diksha with mutual understanding and harmony between husband and wife.
  3. Spiritual Attitude
    Always remember that your true Self is an inseparable expression of the all-pervading Divine Consciousness (Chaitanya). Cultivate humility, compassion and purity of intention.
  4. Traditional Observance
    According to the traditional discipline of this lineage, women are advised to refrain from participating in Diksha or group spiritual practices during the first four days of menstruation and resume regular practice thereafter.
  5. Daily Practice
    Every initiated disciple should practise Kriya Yoga sincerely for a minimum of 45 minutes daily.
  6. Daily Spiritual Remembrance
    Whenever formal meditation is not possible, continue remembrance of the Divine through Mantra Japa, Guru Mantra or any holy Name of God.
  7. Purity of Life
    Lead a disciplined life based on truthfulness, moderation, self-control, compassion and respect for all beings.
  8. Physical & Mental Readiness
    Attend initiation with a healthy body and peaceful mind. Wear clean, comfortable and modest clothing. Avoid heavy meals before meditation.
  9. Confidentiality
    The techniques imparted during Diksha are sacred. They should not be demonstrated or taught without the authorization of the Guru or the Institute.
  10. Lifelong Commitment
    Diksha marks the beginning of lifelong spiritual evolution. Its benefits unfold through regular practice, humility and continuous guidance from the Guru-Paramparā.

Diksha is offered solely for genuine spiritual development.
Participation is voluntary.
Applicants agree to respect the Guru-Paramparā and the traditions of the Institute.
Initiation does not guarantee any specific spiritual, psychological, medical, or material outcome.
Regular personal practice is the responsibility of the disciple.
The Institute reserves the right to postpone or decline initiation if an applicant is considered unprepared.
Initiated techniques must remain confidential unless authorized by the Institute.
All course materials, publications, videos, and teaching resources remain the intellectual property of the Institute and may not be reproduced without written permission.
Participants should consult qualified healthcare professionals regarding any medical conditions. Kriya Yoga is a spiritual discipline and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
The Institute may revise these guidelines whenever necessary.

Q1. Who can receive Kriya Yoga Diksha?

Anyone having sincere spiritual aspiration, respect for the Guru-Paramparā and willingness to practise regularly may apply.

Q2. Is previous meditation experience necessary?

No. Beginners as well as experienced seekers are welcome.

Q3. How long should I practise every day?

A minimum of 45 minutes daily is recommended.

Q4. Can I continue my own religious faith?

Yes.

Kriya Yoga is a universal spiritual discipline and does not require changing one’s religion or personal beliefs.

Q5. Are the techniques public?

No.

The practical techniques are transmitted personally through authorized Diksha and should remain confidential.

Q6. Can women receive Diksha?

Certainly.

Women are equally eligible. Traditional observances during menstruation are followed according to the discipline of this lineage.

Q7. Is Kriya Yoga suitable for all ages?

Generally yes.

However, applicants should be physically and mentally fit enough to practise meditation comfortably.
